ABOUT
I grew up on The Lizard in Cornwall.....riding horses & rowing boats. I love all things active and will try my hand at almost anything. I love a challenge, and try not to take life too seriously. I worked in the sports industry for over 10 years before retraining to be a fitness instructor in 2018, specialising in Pre & Postnatal fitness.
I am a sucker for 90s dance classics (which often feature in my playlists) and love creating fun and challenging sessions for my groups. I believe fitness is for anyone and everyone and can be a huge benefit to a persons mental as well as physical health.
I have two children, Bella and Jago you will often see them pop up in classes both online and in the holidays. Bella is also starting to help me out and will often put a little spin on my bootcamp challenges. I'm no superwoman, I'm a mum...trying to navigate the endless juggle that parenthood presents - so I really do 'get it'.
I created 'RB FITNESS' as a small business that supports women, but also fits around my family life. My children will always be my inspiration, though I firmly believe there is nothing wrong with wanting, and being more than 'mum'.
Mentally I was not in a good place after having my second baby. I felt lost and like I wasn't sure who 'me' was anymore. Exercise was my main therapy, and those feel good endorphins experienced after a workout helped to lift the brain fog and used to put me in a lot better place. With very limited childcare, those options for working out were few and far between, but a mum & baby 'spin' class was my saviour. As great as it was it wasn't particularly social, and though I attended with friends, had I been on my own....it would have been a lonely place.
My 'MumPower' classes are designed to not only be a great way to return to fitness, but also a safe and welcoming environment for mums to get out of the house, knowing that they can bring their children along with no need for childcare. I'd like to think that classes could be that saviour for mums who may be struggling with their own mental health.
I also wanted to offer a range of classes for women who aren't necessarily in the 'postnatal period'. Bootcamps & core classes such as 'glute camp' provide an opportunity to challenge and motivate people to achieve what they didn't think was possible.
Through RB Fitness I design my classes with family life in mind....whether that's classes to support you through your pregnancy, in the early postnatal stages, or once your children are grown up and you want that bit of 'me time' back. You don't need to be super fit or dressed in the latest fitness gear - you can guarantee that there will be no judgement, and that you'll be working out with a group of like minded ladies.
My inspiration and motivation for running my own business comes from my 2 children....
Little eyes are always watching, and I want them to see me being active, helping others and working hard. I want them to see that looking after yourself is a part of life and also to celebrate what your body can do....instead of using exercise as a means of punishment.
Your influence is huge....so use it wisely.
I am committed to constantly improving my knowledge and updating myself on the most up to date research in my field. In addition to the formal qualifications listed above I have attended numerous workshops and webinars including those with top Womens Health practitioners on a variety of topics that may be relevant or helpful to those I work with in classes.
Podcasts are my favourite (and most practical as a busy mum!) way of digesting new information and I will listen to several each week to learn from colleagues and experts in womens health, fitness and business.
